Our 3rd GO session

Trees today! We got to know some of the trees in our school grounds (we discovered on Monday that there are 165 of them). We felt the bark, looked up into their branches, traced their roots, put our arms around them (some children even tried to listen to them!) and finally gave our favourite tree a name that we felt suited it's appearance! Following this, we used a tree trail spinner to locate the following trees in our grounds: Ash, Cherry, Hawthorn, Elder, Copper Beech, Bristol Whitebeam, Willow and Lime.

While outside, we collected words and phrases about trees in the form of a mind map. This will be useful when we write about trees next week. Our forks and trowels were handy when we removed weeds.

Then we cut back the remains of daffodils with scissors, to make space for new planting. Some of us had the chance to plant a Petunia!
