Moving picture books

Class 9 always enjoy starting a new term by making new discoveries.
This morning we have looked closely at lots of pop up books and tried to work out how the mechanisms are created.

First, we learnt how to make a box fold.

Then we tried to make a mouth fold.

Next, we attempted 'The rotator', which involved using a split pin.

The paper spring was fun!

Finally, we learnt how to make a slider....

.....and a lift open flap feature.

Thankyou so much to those of you who kindly brought in a pop up book of your own, and especially to those children who'd tried to make their own over the holidays.

Your child will be making a pop up book with a partner on Thursday afternoon. Each pair has decided on a topic. They may like to try out some techniques at home, or bring in pictures and / or facts to add to their books. If so, please bring anything in on Thursday morning please!
