Another thank you - this time from Mrs Beer

We've had a wonderful year with Class 9. Mrs Adams and I have been sorry to say goodbye to them today, although we know they will make fabulous Year 5's in September.

Thankyou so much for all your thoughtful gifts and lovely cards, from both parents and children. A big thankyou also to the team of parents who so kindly presented me with gift vouchers and some beautiful flowers after school. I will make sure I show the children what I have treated myself to in September! All your kind words, generosity and support have been most appreciated by myself and Mrs Adams and we wish you all a restful Summer break.

Thank you very much for the lovely cards, beautiful flowers and gift vouchers. It was very thoughtful and generous of you all.

We have really enjoyed teaching Class 9 - they are a lovely group of children.
Keep up the enthusiasm for science, spellings and times tables!

Books back please!

Please could we ask for any school reading books to be returned as soon as possible so that our shelves are replenished ready for next year. If you find any school books at home which you have forgotten to return in previous years, please don't be embarrassed! We will gladly welcome them back and relocate them to the appropriate year group.

Thankyou.

A glorious lunch!

It has been a very special lunchtime for myself and Mrs Adams. We were so proud of how Class 9 tried almost everything presented to them at Ashyana restaurant.

Their manners were impeccable and they polished off their plates with such enthusiasm. They had the chance to sample papadoms and all the chutneys, Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Sag Aloo, Vegetable curry, Tarka dhal, boiled rice and Naan bread.

And of course, a fresh hot towel and a chocolate to finish off the meal!

Full, but happy!

Huge thanks to Ashyana for hosting us. The children are bringing home a menu from the restaurant to show you what they have eaten today!

The Pom Pom pot and end of term arrangements

Congratulations to Class 9, who have once more managed to fill up the Pom Pom Pot just in time for the end of term!
The children have voted on their choice of treats and it still seems that watching a film in class is the most popular choice!

On Thursday 17th July (this Thursday), please could children bring in any U rated films they would like the class to vote on. They can also bring in nightwear and a pillow, blanket and cuddly toy should they wish to get comfy. Each child can bring in a small tub or plate of their own food to nibble on during the afternoon. Mrs Beer will also be preparing freshly popped popcorn for the class to enjoy.

On Monday morning (21st July), as part of the Pom Pom pot reward, a small team of pupils have also organised a short games session for the rest of the class. We are really looking forward to seeing what ideas they come up with! We will also be sending books home on this day, so please ensure that your child has a strong plastic bag in school to hold them all.

On the last day of term, Tuesday 22nd July, children may bring in games of their choice to play (we can accept no responsibility for these, so please choose sensibly!). We will also have a class talent show for pupils who would like to take part.

Mrs Adams and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the support you have given the children this year, be it with reading, times tables, spellings or the many other initiatives we have organised. It has been so appreciated. Your enthusiasm obviously rubs off on the children, and Class 9 have fully embraced every opportunity to learn and enjoy all that Year 4 has offered to them. We will miss this amazing class!

Have a wonderful summer break.

Indian restaurant trip tomorrow

Just a reminder that children do not need to bring a packed lunch or pay for a school dinner tomorrow, as we are off to the Indian Restaurant for lunch.

Thankyou.

Y6 dress rehearsal

We were lucky enough to watch the amazing 'We will rock you' dress rehearsal this morning. Year 6 were truly magnificent and we are all in awe of them!

As your child may have mentioned, we have been writing our own plays in Class 9, and they should have brought home a script to practise last week. Due to the Year 6 dress rehearsal taking longer than anticipated, we will now be doing our own dress rehearsals tomorrow morning before break. In the afternoon, we will perform them one more time, to decide the lucky 2 groups who will perform again to the rest of Year 4.

Lights, camera, ACTION!

This week, Class 9 have been writing their own play scripts in groups. We have named our production companies, written scripts and even designed tickets, programs and posters.

Each child is bringing home a copy of the play script they have written in their groups tonight. We would love the children to practise their lines at home, although there is no pressure to learn them off by heart (unless your child is keen to!). We will have a chance to rehearse our plays in class next Monday 14th July, so if your child wants to bring in any props or changes of clothes, please have them in school on this day. On Tuesday 15th July, Mrs Beer will watch each play for a final time (as well as judging the tickets, programs and posters) and will then choose two groups to perform in front of the other Year 4 classes on Wednesday 16th July.

This project is creating such enthusiasm! Thankyou for all your efforts so far, Class 9.

Water Resistance Investigations

In Science today we did some investigations to test water resistance. We made different shapes from plasticine and timed how long they took to reach the bottom of a cylinder filled with water.

Our investigations involved lots of water, so luckily we managed to work outside.

We also tried out different boat shapes and tested how many marbles they could hold before they sank. The record was over 15!

Class 9 chefs!

Class 9 have had the most wonderful afternoon, learning all about how to chop vegetables safely as well as smelling various herbs and spices.

Our dining hall was filled with the aroma of two curries cooking away - one was a coconut milk and vegetable curry, the other a tomato and vegetable curry.

Many thanks to Giles Tabley for organising the afternoon.

An afternoon of Indian Cookery

Your child is bringing a letter home tonight about some Indian Cookery they are taking part in tomorrow. If your child has an apron (don't worry if they don't!), it would be useful if they could bring it in.

Thankyou.
