Animal adaptation

On Friday, we learnt all about how various animals were suited their environments. We started off by considering how well human beings coped with rainy, hot, windy and cold environments.

Then we found out about how Highland Cattle, Polar Bears, the Bar Headed Goose, Penguins, Golden Eagles and Camels had adapted to their environments.

We made our own documentary style drama, which made it much easier to remember all the facts we'd discovered. It was great fun pretending to be the animals while others provided a David Attenborough style commentary.

Old Newspapers please!

We would be very grateful if you could send any old newspapers into school, to use during our art sessions.

Many thanks!

Board game designers

Today we have been designing and making Maths board games, to help improve our times table knowledge. Each group got the chance to play lots of the games. We wrote some great instructions for them too!

Crafty Class 9

It's fair to say our first 'Crafternoon' has been a terrific success!

Thankyou to all the children and parents for supporting this idea. The class brought in a fantastic range of craft activities to try. We also got the chance to look at what the other Year 4 classes had created. What a talented bunch the Henleaze pupils are!

Wild Experiences at Westonbirt.

We had a fantastic day in the sunshine at Westonbirt today. We became nature detectives- looking for food that the woodland creatures would eat and spotting animals and their habitats. We learnt even more about food chains too.

Look how many of us can hug a tree at the same time!

This tree trunk was SO long - great for balancing on.

Thank you to all the parent helpers.

What a great day.

Marvellous mixed media

Vincent Van Gogh's 'The Olive Trees' and 'Starry Night' were the inspiration behind our artwork today. We used oil pastels and watercolours together to produce these interesting effects....

Year 4 Crafternoon

You should have received a letter today about our very first 'Crafternoon' on Thursday 19th June.

If not, it can be found in the letters section of the school website. We are VERY excited about this new event and hope your child feels just as enthusiastic as us!
